Pratima Patel - Associate Adolescents
Pratima is an Integrative Adolescent Counsellor and an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy - MBACP.
She is also qualified to practice the Rewind Therapy Technique, which is a treatment for trauma and PTSD. She is compassionate, empathetic, and solutions-oriented, with a broad experience of working with 11-17 year olds. Pratima works one-to-one and online and likes to hone in on each child's unique worldview and then works together to formulate a plan that supports them with their challenges, and helps them discover a higher purpose and approach to the various areas of their life.
She particularly enjoys transforming young people's outlook, well-being and utilises mental strategies, engaging in holistic tools such as mindfulness, meditation, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) where appropriate. Her therapeutic work spans various approaches, including Psychodynamic theory, Attachment theory, Play therapy, and Person-Centred approaches. Pratima has tackled tough topics including bereavement, divorce, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, emotional and physical abuse, anxiety, depression, and bullying, focusing on active listening skills and evaluations of behaviours for children unable to self-express verbally.
She has worked in mental health and wellness for over ten years, qualifying with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Adolescents with Place 2 Be in 2015. She is currently completing her certification in Third Wave Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Creative Mindfulness for Children. She has both experiences of working with children in school settings and running her private practice.
