Bipolar Disorder / Manic Depression
There are many symptoms associated with Bipolar Disorder / Manic Depression. Essentially a sufferer will experience severe fluctuation of mood and possibly psychotic symptoms. The severity and duration of such moods is often recognised due to the polarity of a persons way of being. Sometimes the person will be seen as in very high spirits and at other times very low and withdrawn. Key here is whether the moods result in a poor quality of life either because of inactivity during times of depression or risky behaviour and if it develops into psychosis, delusions.
The causes of Bipolar are unknown.
Counselling and psychotherapy can offer a space for exploring the experience of depression and examine ways for managing and alleviating symptoms. We have extensive experience of working with people suffering with diagnoses of depression including severe and manic depressions.
