What to Expect from our Chiswick Counselling Service

Our private and confidential service is conveniently located towards the centre of Chiswick High Road where all the major shops, restaurants and cafes can be found and our premises are perfect for easy accessibility and are designed to ensure your privacy and comfort.

The sessions involve us meeting, talking and listening together with the mutual purpose of paying careful attention to your concerns and gaining a greater understanding of your own particular situation. It is a shared process and the therapeutic relationship can only be nurtured in a safe and dependable environment.

We work carefully and respectfully, honouring your privacy, autonomy and independence and your freedom and ability to make choices for yourself. Within the therapeutic relationship you can explore your physical and emotional feelings, your thoughts and behaviours and the contexts in which they arise.

The perspective we bring to the work is based upon our clinical experience, knowledge of theoretical approaches and experience of our sessions.

Common Questions

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

The terms Counselling and Psychotherapy, these are often used interchangeably. However for the purposes of understanding what to expect, counselling is an endeavour that often has a clearer focus than psychotherapy for example a Bereavement or particular crisis. The nature of more clearly defined concerns tends to result in a limited number of sessions.

Psychotherapy is relevant where there is a sense of struggle without any particular sense of a cause of the concern, often this struggle is something which has been experienced for a considerable period of time. A psychotherapy relationship tends to be of a longer-term nature.

Are you concerned about whether the cost of counselling will be worth it?
We know from our own experience with counselling, as part of our own training, that it can be a considerable cost. That's why you want professionals with experience and the highest level of qualifications; why not read our testimonials?
