Marybeth is a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Couples Counsellor and Systemic Family Therapist registered with the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a member of the Association of Family Therapy (AFT).

Marybeth works with a wide range of issues including depression, stress, anxiety, life stage transitions, communication and relationship problems, separation, divorce, and mental health difficulties. Marybeth believes that therapy is essentially about working with people to help them navigate and harness strengths when facing difficulties, transitions and changes in life.

"I understand what triggers my anger and have learned to accept frustrations and deal with them in a way which avoids rage. I found that being able to off load my worries, pain, incomprehension about my relationship was in itself very helpful. Talking with someone who had no personal connection with me and who asked thoughtful and probing questions enabled me to see things from other points of view and to understand myself and my partner better. I now cope much better with problems in my relationship...... I know that without the skill and objectivity of my counsellor in really making me think and re-examine myself I would still be where I was 6 months ago". Client testimonial

As well as working in private practice, Marybeth has many years experience of working with individuals, couples and families within universities, schools and in the voluntary sector. At present Marybeth is currently working in a Sixth Form College and at a Family and Couple Therapy Service.

Marybeth's training includes a four-year postgraduate diploma and MSc in Systemic and Family Therapy from the University of Bedfordshire.
