Selective mutism
Selective mutism is a severe anxiety condition in which a person is unable to communicate in specific social contexts, such as with classmates at school or distant relatives. It generally begins in childhood and can last throughout adulthood if left untreated. Your therapist will be able to work with you to understand better what is happening and together you will be able to find a way forward.
